Laci Kaye Booth, a Top 5 finisher on American Idol Season 17, made her Grand Ole Opry debut on March 29.

A day earlier, she dropped a superb new single, “Daddy’s Mugshot,” made more special by her smoky vocals.

The song has already been streamed nearly 300,000 times on Spotify.

The Grand Ole Opry performance came following an invite from country artist Parker McCollum. Laci’s been opening shows on tour with the fellow Texan this spring.

She performed her new single and Patsy Cline’s “Crazy” on the Opry stage. Then she posted a video of her singing “Crazy” in a radio singing contest as a young girl in 2005.

“Took me 20 years to get from the @93qhouston singing contest to the Grand ole @opry stage, by the grace of God and my angel Patsy Cline,” wrote Laci, 29, in the caption accompanying the video.

As for the new song, Laci wrote it with Morgan John Evans. She hails from a long line of country musicians and used to open at her father’s shows.

“I wrote this song called ‘Daddy’s Mugshot’ after I was scrolling on Facebook and I saw my dad’s mugshot going around,” Laci told the Opry crowd. “And I didn’t know he got arrested. He was grinning from ear to ear.”

The single is Laci’s first since her 2024 album “Loneliest Girl in the World.” Three songs from that album have been streamed more than 1 million times on Spotify.
