Her audition: Angie Keilhauer, 24, of Marietta, Ga., auditioned with “I Hold Up” by Dierks Bentley. Her high-energy performance and impressive vocals prompted chair turns from Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams. Blake praised her “wild, loose cannon” approach to performing. Angie decided to join Team Blake.
Her background: She was born in El Salvador and moved to Georgia when she was 11 years old. Her dad said there was a lot of unrest in El Salvador and he felt the U.S. would offer more opportunities for his five daughters. Angie credits her mom for introducing her to Dolly Parton. And Angie ssays country music taught her a love of songwriting. She decided she needed to pursue music “so one day, I got this idea that I’m going to be a singer on a cruise ship.” That’s what she’s been doing since, playing four sets a day, six days a week for thousands of people while traveling to tropical locations. Yet she’s hoping to reach a point where she can reach people through her music without a cruise line to do it.
