His audition: Dalton Dover, 20, of Aragon, Ga., auditioned with Keith Whitley’s “Don’t Close Your Eyes.” He displayed a nice ache in his voice and enticed a quick chair turn from Blake Shelton. No other coaches turned, saying they were convinced Dalton would have selected Blake anyway.

About Dalton Dover:

* In his Facebook bio, Dalton says he grew up singing beside his grandfather in church and calls him the most influential person in his early life. He also helped teach Dalton to play guitar. He still play and sings. People say he sounds like Elvis, Dalton adds.

* Growing up, Dalton said he’d performed in church and his grandpa’s living room, but no where else. Then he got up the courage to enter his fifth-grade talent show and won. That fueled his country music dreams.

* Dalton dropped out of school at 16 to support his pregnant girlfriend and their first child. He also became good friends with his new brother-in-law, Brandon Morris, bonding over their shared love of music. Brandon died two years later in an auto accident.

* Dalton told Voice Views that’s one of the reasons he sang “Don’t Close Your Eyes” for his audition. “It’s one of the very first songs I learned to play on guitar,” he said. “The songs means a lot to me. My brother in-law used to play it all the time, so every time I play it, I think of him.”

* His full-time job is working in a poultry family, but Dalton has also been performing around Georgia acoustically, as the Dalton Dover Band and as the Georgia Still Band.

* His specialty is country with a touch of soul and he specializes in country music from the 1990s to today, according to his bio on GeorgiaCounty.com. And while he hasn’t released original music yet, you can check out his covers of songs by Jake Owen, Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton and Rascal Flatts on his YouTube channel.

* The original music is coming. Dalton told EP he’s in the middle of work on a debut EP. “There’s one song that you will hear on there called “That Ain’t in Her Plans” — my all-time favorite song I’ve ever written. I can’t wait for the world to hear.”

* Dalton said the other coaches were correct in their assumption that he was Team Blake bound, whether they turned or not. “Growing up, I idolized him and now he’s my coach!?!? What’s a better life!?!? In other words, I’m blessed beyond measure to be on #TeamBlake.”
