Ruby McAloon auditioned for Season 16 of The Voice; so did her father.

Sixteen seasons in, I’m pretty sure you can chalk this up as a first for The Voice.

A father and daughter auditioned for Season 17, albeit both as solo artists.

The dad is Patrick McAloon, a 40-year-old touring musician based in Rhode Island who had already been rumored to have made the show.

The daughter is Ruby McAloon, a 16-year-old who performs as Ruby Mac and almost always seems to have her dad by her side, playing guitar, in the performance videos she posts.

Rudy confirmed her participation on the show Thursday via Instagram: “I auditioned for @NBCTHEVOICE ✌🏻🤗 and to make it even better, my dad @patrickmcaloon did too! SEPARATELY! 😱”

On her YouTube videos, Ruby displays a nice tone and doesn’t shy away from tackling big songs, like “Feeling Good” and Adele’s “Hello.”

Below, you can check out Ruby with her proud dad by her side as she covers “Bright” by Echosmith.

She classifies herself as a singer-songwriter and, at one point had the opportunity to perform for a crowd of 2,000 with Pat Monahan of Train and Rachel Platten, according to her website bio.

And music isn’t her only passion. At Ruby’s young age, she’s also a fashion designer with three collections to her credit, training at the Rhode Island School of Design.

She’s shown at fashion week in Boston and New York. And she was one of the contestants on Season 2 of the Lifetime channel’s Project Runway Juniors, which aired in the winter of 2016-17. Find out more about her fashion sense at the website link below.

Ruby’s also clearly close to her dad, wishing him happy birthday last July with this Instagram message: “Happy 40th Dad! You’re officially old 😉 thank you for being the best/coolest dad in the entire universe! You ROCK 💕”
