Her audition: Joanna Serenko, 18, of St. Louis, Missouri, performed “All My Loving” by The Beatles. She was just two lines into the song when her soulful vocal style prompted chair turns from Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Nick Jonas. Blake Shelton eventually turned as well. Blake called it an “effortless, powerful vocal.” John says she gave him chills and sounded assured for such a young age. Nick said she blew him away. Kelly likes the vibe of her voice. Nick made a second pitch for Joanna, refusing to give up on her. Joanna chose Team Nick.

Here’s more about Joanna.

* She’s a St. Louis-based singer-songwriter.

* According to her Voice bio, Joanna started piano and voice lessons at 6 and later went on to join marching band, show choir and musical theater.

* Last April, she took first place in St. Louis Teen Talent Competition at The Fabulous Fox Theatre, singing “Valerie” at the finals. She was 17 and a senior at Kirkwood High School at the time.

* She released a debut single — “Best of Me” — last year and has a couple of other originals posted on her YouTube channel.

* She’s honed her music skills at JazzU in St. Louis and at the Webster School of Music.

* Joanna’s also done lots of collaborating for an artist so young, appearing on releases by hip-hop artists Jackwoods and E2K and on songs from R&B artists, Slopage and Empty Society.

* Last year, she was also one of three featured artists in a SoFar Sounds concert in St. Louis.

* And wrote Joanna on Instagram in late September: “It feels like this is the first time I knew to my soul that the new year is gonna be seriously badass. With new journeys to embark on, incredibly supportive people in every corner of my life, and the commitment to my goals, I am so ready to work towards the best version of myself.”
