Her blind audition: Joei Fulco, 22, of Lancaster, Calif, performed “Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves” by Cher. Joei launched into a bold songs choice with lots of grit in her voice. She also delivered a powerful ending. Blake and Nick turned late in the performance, but Nick was blocked by Blake. Kelly complimented Joei on an old-school sound. Blake said her seasoned-sounding voice will help set her apart from the other singers on the show. Because of the block, Joei automatically became a member of Team Blake.

Here’s more about Joei.

* She’s an L.A.-based singer-songwriter who plays piano and guitar and has been performing, either solo or with family members for most of her life.

* Her father Joey was also a musician and frequently had his daughter join him on stage at his gigs, beginning when she was just 2.

* Born in Nashville, she’s also spent time living in New York, Las Vegas and Switzerland.

* When she was younger, she played guitar and sang lead for the Fulco Family Band. In fact, back in 2011, when Joei was 14, that family band played at a music festival in China. In 2013, when she was 16, they embarked on a 16-stop tour of Europe.

* That same year, they released a 16-song album called “Meet the Fulcos.”

* Much more recently, she’s performed as a duo with her brother Jesse, covering a wide range of classics and newer music with a few originals mixed in as the Fulco Experience.

* The Fulco Experience released a pair of singles in 2019 — “Red Roses” and “Star Spangled Through and Through.” Check out “Red Roses” below.

* Joei’s interests go beyond music. She’s also a bodybuilder, has competed in mixed martial arts and in NPC bikini competitions. She even has credits as an actress in three films, most recently a small part in a 2017 sci-fi film called “Interstellar Civil War.”

* Writes Joei in one of her most recent Instagram posts: “And one day she discovered that she was fierce. And strong. And full of fire. And that not even she could hold herself back. Because her passion burned brighter than her fears.”

* Joei told the Voice judges her heart is “in country rock.” And that her dad raised his children on the classics. “He said, ‘If you’re going to learn how to play music, you’ve got to learn it from the start.”

Good luck Joei, from Aurora, Colorado! My fondest memories are of the times I was afforded the opportunities to jam with you and Jesse on stage, my spider, and the guitar I won at the Fulco Family Music Festival. No doubt in my mind that you will continue in the competition to the latest rounds.
