His audition: Kameron Marlowe, 21 of Kannapolis, N.C., auditioned with Luke Combs’ “One Number Away.” Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson turned at last second. Despite Adam Levine coaching Kelly on how to land a country singer, Kameron opted to join Team Blake.

His background: A 9-to-5 desk job isn’t for him, Kameron says. So he works at a car dealership, selling car parts all day. What he’d prefer to do is make a living playing music. He formed a rock band in high school, but admits ‘we were atrocious.” Now he’s focused on country music and, pre-audition, said working with Blake Shelton would be a dream come true.

On picking Team Blake: It was edited out, but Kameron said Blake “told me I sounded like some country artists that he respected,
which I really appreciated. I just knew going up there that if he turned his chair, there was no other option for me. Blake Shelton has been a hero of mine for years and year and years. Being able to work with him one on one was so special and magical to me.”

What the show didn’t show:

* Apparently, earning a spot on The Voice has been a longtime goal for Kameron. Back in 2014, a fundraiser was launched to help finance his trip to the third round of The Voice audition process. He met the $500 fundraising goal with ease, but fell short of making the show.

* His Facebook bio says he started singing at age 4 and started performing the national anthem at local sporting events while still in his childhood.

* He started singing gigs around his hometown around age 15.

* Kameron eventually became a worship leader at Elevation Church near his hometown.

* He apparently has not released music yet, but has an original called “Haunted” that was posted to his YouTube channel about a month ago. You can check it out below.

* He also covers a wide range of music on that page, from Johnny Cash to Chris Stapleton to Tom Petty.

* According to the bio on The Voice website, Kameron’s mom was diagnosed with a degenerative disc injury in her back last year, prompting Kameron to quite college and take a full-time job to help out.
