Lana Love from The Voice Season 22

Her audition: Lana Love, 30, of Glendale, Calif. performed “Candy” by Mandy Moore. Her strong opening enticed a quick turn from John Legend. John expressed shock that no other coaches turns. He called her performance a cool version of the song.

Here’s more about Lana.

* She’s an alternative artist from Atlanta who’s also trained as a dancer, actress and classical pianist.

* She became enthralled with “Music of the Night” from “Phantom of the Opera” at age 4 and learned to play it on piano. By age 7, she’d written her first song.

* In her late teens, Lana was featured as a singer, actor and dancer in several musical productions by Disney and Nickelodeon. On Instagram, she refers to herself as a “former Disney princess.”

* Lana studied music at the University of Florida, the American Musc Theater and the Dramatic Academy in New York.

* In an interview last year with Popternative, she said she adopted the stage name Lana Love “because love was the one thing I knew nothing about, but I know it is the key to everything. Still and always learning.”

* Lana was assistant director and lyricist for the 2021 Netflix documentary ‘Making Malinche’, about the story behind the musical based on the relationship between the explorer Cortez and an Aztec woman named Malinche.

* Last October, she released an impressive six-song, self-titled EP that was three years in the making. She’s released music videos for four songs — “American Love,” “Lost Boy,” “Ego Go” and “Loaded Gun.”

* One of the standout tracks is “In Too Deep.” Says Lana: “Wrote this song about surface level love. This year I let go of all those relationships that were half-in-half-out & stopped bobbing with ankle weights on. Now I make a conscious effort to develop connections with people who have the capacity to love deep sans weight.” Check out the lyric video below.

* Earlier this year, she appeared on the FOX game show “I Can See Your Voice” singing the smash hit “Bad Guy,” writing on Instagram “if Julie Andrews sang Billi Eilish, she would sound like this.”

* As for her original music, Lana told Popnerative: “When people hear my music I hope they hear the story of a girl who’s working through her traumas, and turning them into something beautiful. I hope they resonate with the lyrics and apply it to their lives as they see fit.”
