The Voice returns to NBC on Monday, Sept. 20. Here’s more about Lana.
* She was a student at the Berklee College of Music and is blessed with a unique vocal tone you can check out below.
* In fact, she recorded her debut single at the Berklee studios in late 2013, but didn’t release the song — “Before the Morning” — until 2019, according to her Facebook page.
* In between, she performed on the Carnival Cruise Line. “Performing my original music in the main theater on board will go down as one of my most precious memories on ships, ever.” she wrote on Instagram in late 2019.
* Lana told Voice Views she performed on cruise ships for about three years. “I worked with musicians from around the globe and performed a wide variety of genres (such as country, 80’s, top 40 pop, Motown, jazz, etc) to audiences from different places and backgrounds! It expanded my appreciation of music as a whole, to say the least, but country’s where my heart is so those were my favorite nights of music onboard.”
* Just prior to The Voice, Lana was leading worship in and around L.A. “As a person of faith, I find it rewarding to get to lead people in song to a place of deep hope and love … especially during trying times like the thick of the pandemic and election.
* She lives in Pasadena with two roommates and some chickens. They’re like pets, she told The Voice.
* She only has three covers posted to her YouTube channel; the latest was a cover of Hillsong’s “New Thing” posted in April. Writes Lana: “At times, this song has felt like a personal proclamation. Other times, a message I need to be reminded of and let sink in. Wherever you’re at today, know that you aren’t alone. There is a Love greater than comprehension… and if you’re alive + breathing, then your story ain’t over.”
* That cover happens to feature a vocal assist from Maharasyi, a contestant on Season 13 of The Voice.
* In announcing her audition, Lana wrote: “I never gave up on the dream God planted in my heart and it turns out perseverance pays off.”
