Her audition: Madison Curbelo, 21, of Westfield, Mass., performed “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King: She turned in a really nice acoustic performance of the song. And singing some lyrics in Spanish since she’s Puerto Rican. This is a young lady who failed to turn a chair the first time she auditioned for The Voice coaches. This time, her joyful tone turned chair after chair until all four were facing in her direction. Talk about a turn-around. Madison says she’s more confident and more secure in her artistry now. John said she’s “ready now.” He likes the brightness and charisma in her voice. Shay called the performance “phenomenal” and says she radiates joy. Chance calls her an “awesome” talent. Madison decided to join Team Dan + Shay.

Here’s more about Madison:

* She’s a singer-songwriter who will turn 22 shortly after Season 25 begins.

* She auditioned for Season 20 when she was 18, singing “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” in the season premiere. None of the coaches turned, though coach Nick Jonas told her she “lights up a room.” And Blake Shelton told her to perform as much as possible, then return.

* Madison took the title of her audition song to heart, meaning she was hardly discouraged by the experience. And she says she took Blake’s advice, singing anywhere that would have her.

* “The most important thing it (the Season 20 audition) taught me is that this is what I am meant to be doing for the rest of my life,” she told her hometown newspaper. “It only made me realize how much I love to sing and perform even more than I already did.”

* Madison has since graduated from the Berklee College of Music.

* And she’s released her first two singles, “My Baby Mine” from 2021 and “Old Dog” from 2022. You can check out a snippet of the latter below.

* She’s also been involved in musical theater and has been serving as drama club director at her alma mater, Westfield High School. In fact, a year ago at this time, she was preparing students there for a performance of “Shrek: The Musical.”

* Oh, and about two years prior to The Voice, Madison apparently auditioned for American Idol and earned a golden ticket. In 2019, she posted a Hollywood Week performance to her YouTube.

* She’s also attracted quite a following on social media, with more than 92,000 followers and 2.2 million likes on her TikTok.
