His audition: Max Boyle, 23, of Toledo, Ohio, auditioned with Ed Sheeran’s “Wayfaring Stranger.” He started his blind audition a cappella, a risky move, but he pulled it off, prompting chair turns from John Legend and Kelly Clarkson. For a while, it looked like he might do the whole song a cappella. Once the music kicks in, Max showed off his performance skills and some really impressive range. John called it a “daring” performance. And since he blocked Kelly, he automatically won Max for his team.

Here’s more about Max. And keep checking back. I’ll be adding more soon.

* He’s a Toledo, Ohio, based singer-songwriters who’s already released music.

* Max released his latest single, “Always,” back in May. He told the Toledo City Paper the song was inspired by his “first big-boy breakup. It’s about knowing you’ll always love that person, but sometimes you have to go your separate ways.” Check out “Always” below.

* That single is a followup to his 2018 debut EP, “Something to Hold.” Lead single “Angel” from that project has racked up more than 400,000 streams on Spotify.

* Max also released a pair of singles in 2017 — “College Party Anthem” and “Save Me.” He calls his sound folksy pop.

* The youngest of six children, he grew up in Maumee. All five of his siblings were involved in music and he began singing at a young age.

* But Max told his hometown newspaper that is was the strong reception to the first YouTube video he posted as a junior in high school that prompted him to take music more seriously.

* Growing up, Max played sports a lot and hid his artistic side. But he was sidelined with a broken arm. His coach saw a video he had posted and encouraged him to audition for the school choir. He quickly became a soloist, his Voice bio says.

* He’s attended the University of Dayton and honed his performance skills playing in that area. According to his Voice bio, he graduated with a degree in psychology.

* He’s also performed in a band call The Ripz with Reid Smith, Max Duffy, Matt Forsthoefel and Dylan Penna-Powell.
