His audition: Micah Iverson, 25, of Atlanta, Ga., performed “All I Want” by Kodaline. Micah showed off a nice tone from the opening note, picked a great song and got Kelly Clarkson to turn her chair less than a minute into his performance. He continued to impress, prompting late chair turns from Blake Shelton and Nick Jonas. Kelly said Micah’s her favorite type of male voice. John praised Micah’s tone and said he regrets not turning. Micah opted to join Team Kelly.

Here’s more about Micah.

* One of nine children and the son of missionary parents, he was born near Tokyo, Japan, and spent his childhood there.

* He’s a 2016 graduate of the University of Virginia, where he majored in English and religious studies.

* More important, from The Voice viewpoint, he served as president of the Virginia Gentlemen, an a cappella group that performs dozens of shows every year.

* While Micah was singing with the group, they traveled to the White House to perform a Christmas show in December 2014 and released an album of covers called “Full Attire” in the winter of 2015.

* And when Micah was a senior, the group traveled to Antarctica, marking the completion of the Virginia Gentlemen’s 63-year quest to visit visit all seven continents.

* Head here for a story on that trip and you’ll see Micah and the rest of the group posing in front of a flock of penguins and horseback riding near Tierra del Fuego, the world’s southernmost town.

* The Virginia Gentlemen performed several times during the voyage to Antarctica, tailoring their set list to fit the older age of the passengers, Micah said.

* He summed up his experience with the a cappella group this way: “The people I’ve met and the stories they’ve shared have changed my perception of my own future and what is possible.”

* As for his own music, Micah has posted a couple of covers on his Instagram page. I’ve embedded his only YouTube cover below.

* And in a 2017 post, he called watching Dashboard Confessional in concert with his brothers “the best day I can ever remember … He is part of the reason I do music at all. Thanks to my older brothers for showing me what true emo is all about.”

* And in the fun facts section of a University of Virginia bio, Micah writes: “I speak Japanese. I’m really great at catching food in my mouth, and I can quote all of The Lord of the Rings.”

* Upon graduation, he took a job as an investment analyst, but quit so he could pursue music. He also works at his brother’s brewery.

Joei Fulco, I’ve personally watched you grow as a singer/song writer and think you are ready for this challenge. Your voice brings a bouquet of sounds from smooth, deep, buttery to edgy, raspy, dramatic and soulful. You’re a powerful force that can bring traditional songs from the 60’s to pop songs of today to the table. But you put a fresh spin on all of them. I’m so excited to see everyone’s reactions when they hear and see you take the stage!
