His audition: Roderick Chambers, 38, of Miami, Fla., performed “Back at One” by Brian McKnight. Robert immediately showed off nice range and earned a quick chair turn from Nick Jonas. None of the other coaches turned, however, meaning Robert automatically became Team Nick. Nick said he was transported back to the first time he heard the song. He called the performance “phenomenal.”

Here’s more about Roderick:

* He began singing when he was young, often alongside his brother. Their inseparable bond grew stronger when Roderick was 4 and his brother saved him from drowning in a pool.

* They sang together in school chorus and later formed an R&B / pop trio called R-Styl.

* Based in South Florida, R-Styl stayed together for 17 years, according to Roderick’s Facebook page, opening for several well-known artists over the years.

* In 2008, the group performed the national anthem at the NBC finals in Miami.

* And in 2012, the R-Styl released an album called “Wanted” that’s still available on streaming sites.

* Roderick’s Facebook bio says R-Styl later joined a cover band and performed throughout the country at clubs, private parties, corporate events, and weddings.

* As we heard on the show, in 2015, Roderick — then married — decided to head to California to pursue a career as a solo artist.

* At shows — and he’s a very busy performer judging from his Instagram — he covers a wide range of artists, including Michael Jackson, BoysIIMen, Bob Marley and, yep, even Voice coach John Legend.

* Roderick describes those shows this way: “I would say my performances are an experience, a mood and a vibe. I mostly perform to be apart of something whether it be a dinner, reception, party etc., I add to the atmosphere and energy of what is already taking place to make the attendees feel good. I guess you can call me a mood enhancer.”

* He says he performs R&B, pop, reggae contemporary and classic jazz. “I don’t perform much of my original music because I love to perform songs that people know,” he told Voice Views.

* Roderick is now separated, but hopes to build a comfortable life performing music for his 2-year-old son.
