Season Two Contestants, The Voice, Tony Vincent

Meet Tony Vincent of The Voice (Team Cee Lo)

2

Tony Vincent might have spent the past 10 years performing on Broadway and in musicals, but he has experience performing as a solo artist as well.

In fact, the 38-year-old New Yorker released a pop EP and two pop albums in the mid-1990s, the latter two under contract with EMI Records.

His website bio says that early music was inspired by the likes of Tears for Fears, Depeche Mode and New Order, and it’s all still available on iTunes.

So is a more recent, independently released 5-track EP called “A Better Way” that came out in 2007. You can listen to those tracks here.

As for theater, Tony’s impressive resume began with a stint in “Rent,” “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “American Idiot.” He originated the role of Galileo Figaro in the Queen musical “We Will Rock You” in London and performed the lead when the show opened in Vegas in 2004.

In fact, that’s where he met his future wife, Aspen, who played his love interest in the musical.

His website bio also says he has performed with Queen on a number of occasions. Little wonder he was so impressive when he performed “We Are the Champions” in his blind audition on The Voice, landing a spot on Team Cee Lo.

After all that success in musicals, Tony says he wants to change directions in his career.

“Broadway has a total blessing to me, but my heart really lies in pop-rock, and it’s a place I want to return,” he told The Voice.

And he thinks Cee Lo is the guy who can help make that happen.

“I love the fact that Cee Lo has such a diverse spectrum and that usually most of the projects he’s involved with are quite epic in nature,” Tony said in his post-audition interview.

Folks who needed a reminder of his vocal talent got it during the last battle round episode, when he dueled with Justin Hopkins and prevailed during their duet of Journey’s “Faithfully.”
