Trevor McBane is among contestants who have announced on social media that they auditioned for ABC’s new version of American Idol.

Idol premieres March 11 with Katy Perry, Lionel Ritchie and Luke Bryan as the judges who determine which singers make it to Hollywood and which don’t.

Here’s more about Trevor McBane.

Trevor is a goat farmer and a hat lover from Savanna, Okla., who grew up on a farm, still lives there and keeps an animal by his side whenever he can, according to his website bio.

He adds “that can be hard sometimes though … My farm consists of a large number of unruly goats and one spoiled cow.”

He told his hometown newspaper that he started taking singing seriously around his junior year of high school.

The following year, in 2014, he won the local McAlester STAR competition where country legend Roy Clark served as one of the five judges. Trevor’s winning song was a cover of “Wayfaring Stranger.”

He went on to become singer for a band called Consider the Raven that also included Levi Mason, Kelsie Shelton and Kyle Shelton. The band released a three-track EP in 2016; I’ve embedded the lead track below.

There’s only one video on Trevor’s YouTube channel, but you can find clips of him singing, interspersed with photos of his goats, on his Instagram page.
