Valerie T. Webb of The Voice Season 25

Valerie T. Webb of The Voice Season 25

Her audition: Val T. Webb, 43, New Braunfels, Texas, “Nobody’s Supposed to Be There” by Deborah Cox: Val’s strong opening prompted a quick chair turn from John. Chance soon followed. An impressive glory note earned her chair turns from Dan + Shay and Reba as well. That made her the eighth and final 4-chair turn singer of Season 25. The coaches rewarded her with a standing ovation. John complimented her on her poise and grace. Shay called her a star. Dan called it one of the best performances the coaches have seen. Chance said she made the song her own. Reba said she loved the performance as well.

Here’s more about Valerie.

* She’s a gospel and Christian artist and mother of three from Birmingham, Alabama.

* She’s currently based in New Braunfels, Texas and is former worship director of Church of the Highlands.

* Valerie previously released music as Valerie T. Smith, including a four-song EP called “Dreams” from 2016 that’s still available on streaming sites.

* In 2020, Valerie told Voyage Atlanta that she started singing in church between the ages of 5 and 7 and “never stopped.”

* By the time she was a teenager, she was part of a girl group, had learned to play piano and was leading songs in church.

* She recorded her first solo — “I’m Glad You Got Here” — with the University of Alabama at Birmingham gospel choir while attending school there.

* In 2020, Valerie was featured in a PBS film called “Dreams of Hope” about a historic concert at a Birmingham church, held 50 years after a hate crime in which four black girls were killed there.

* Valerie has also performed and directed background vocals for a number of artists, including Yolanda Adams, India Arie, Robin Thicke, LeAnn Rimes and former American Idol runner-up Bo Bice.

* The Voice has aired a small snippet of her audition in a promotional ad. Enough to indicate that she earned a spot on the show. And enough to hear Dan + Shay tell her she’s a background singer no more.

* Valerie has also started teaching an online course for independent musicians called “Indie Is My Major.”

* In that 2020 interview, Valerie says “I’m not just a performer, I’m a servant of the Lord on a mission to change the world with my heart, not just the art.” Check out her impressive vocals on the TikTok post below.

@valerietwebb I sang this Gospel Song to my husband @mrbylaw last Friday (7.29.22) during our R&B duets tribute show at @perfectnotelive in Birmingham, AL and though it's a gospel song. It was my song of love to him and God. I suprised him with this song during the show. Thank you @tyetribbettmusic for this. It's still a fav. (I do not own the rights to this song) #love #lovesong #coupleswhosing #INeedYou #TyeTribbett #RobAndVal #BookingNow ♬ original sound – Val T Webb🎶
