Walker Wilson is one of the artists to announce that he auditioned for Season 23 of The Voice.

The Voice returns to NBC on Monday, March 6.

Here’s more about Walker.

* He recently turned 25 and he’s from Raymond, Mississippi.

* He’s now based in Nashville and classifies himself as a country and southern rock artist.

* Walker has released a pair of singles, “Little Less Here” in 2021 and “Dear Raymond” in 2022.

* As you might guess, the latter is an ode to his hometown. “I never dreamed that a song I wrote in my basement would become what it is today,” he writes on Instagram. You can check out that song below.

* According to an early 2022 article in Music Industry Weekly, Walker showed an interest in music at a young age, singing in church choirs and eventually being selected for the Mississippi All-State Choir.

* In a YouTube video, he says his family moved to East Tennessee when he was 15. He learned guitar and started writing his own music.

* At a release party for “Dear Raymond” back home, Walker recalled that the move inspired him to get more serious about music. “I kinda of got lonely because I didn’t have any friends, so I picked up the guitar and started playing.” He eventually made friends, friends who played music, started performing music “and it kept growing from there.”

* In 2020, he graduated from a technical college with a degree in machine tool technology and began working as a machinist.

* But as time passed, he yearned to pursue a career in music rather than performing just on weekends. He made the move to Nashville in the summer of 2021.

* Says Walker in that 2022 interview: “My favorite part about the music industry is the limitless opportunities and the ability to express yourself creatively. It’s almost like there are no rules or boundaries. The only thing holding you back is yourself.”
