One of the most highly anticipated Voice-related albums comes out tomorrow.
But you don’t have to wait to hear it.
I’m talking about “Cry Baby,” the debut album from Melanie Martinez, she of the two-toned hair and the 40 million YouTube views.
Noisey is streaming the album now and you can head here to listen.
You also find an interview in which Melanie explains the meaning behind each of the songs on the album.
The album is designed to be the story of “Cry Baby” as she endures a dysfunctional family like, falls in love, experiences heartbreak and rebounds to — in Melanie’s words — embraces “the crazy for sure.”
As for the theme of the album, here’s how Melanie explains it.
“I knew that I wanted the album to be called Cry Baby for the longest time and my main reason for it was because I was teased as a kid for being super emotional and I took things way too seriously.
“I think this album was kind of a way to overcome my insecurities in a lot of areas of my life. I wanted to turn the name cry baby into a compliment.”
there’s still time to pre-order, of course, with special bundles available through Melanie’s website.
Melanie was a Top 6 finisher on Season 3 of The Voice.
