Blake Lewis

In his latest video blog, Blake Lewis says his new album should be out in Oct. 6. Blake finished second on season six of Idol and released a debut album, “Audio Day Dream,” in December 2007.

The first single from the new album is entitled “Sad Song” and should be released sometime soon, Blake says. Via Twitter, he recently indicated the new album will be called “Heartbreak on Vinyl.”

All of that was confirmed today in a release issued by Tommy Boy Entertainment. The release says the single will be out later this month.

And in it, Blake explains the title of the album.

“The title is an ode to all the record stores that have been closing down due to my industry eating itself. These are the stores that brought inspiration to all of us music lovers and have led me to make the music I create today,” he is quoted as saying.

As for the music, Blake says the album “is the culmination of over 10 years in the dance scene — the music that gets me out onto the dance floor to lose my inhibition.” He goes on to promise us “electro pop goodness.”

Anyone who remembers Blake from his time on Idol would expect no less.

Blake’s last release came in November when he sang lead on Darude’s dance remix of the old Flock of Seagulls’ hit, “I Ran.” You can also check that out on Blake’s MySpace page, as well as another Darube production featuring Blake, “Selfless.”

You can also listen to his entire first album there. Here’s the link.
