No word yet on when we’ll get that post-Idol debut album from Crystal Bowersox.

But MamaSox took one big step this weekend, getting married to musician friend Brian Walker in front of a crowd of about 60, including Idol colleague Didi Benami. Read more about the ceremony here.

The wedding comes just months after Crystal’s well-publicized breakup with her former boyfriend. That came on the eve of the final American Idol performance show of season nine.

Of course, Crystal wouldn’t even have been on that show if Idol producers hadn’t shown compassion when she suffered a diabetic episode back in the Idol semifinals.

Remember back in week two of the competition, when Crystal was suddenly hospitalized on the night the girls were supposed to sing. Idol let the guys sing that night, giving Crystal time to recover and perform the following night.

Now Crystal is asking fans who might be inclined to send her a wedding gift to make a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund instead.

“So many people have asked about sending a wedding gift for Brian and me,” Crystal writes in a message posted on her website. As much as we appreciate it, we are very lucky and have all that we could possibly need. If you feel that you would still like to send something, please consider making a donation to JDRF’s “Crystal Bowersox Research Fund.”

Donations can be sent to:
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
26 Broadway/14th Floor
New York, NY 10004
212-479-7509

Just write: Crystal Bowersox Research Fund in the memo line.

Hey, nice touch, Crystal.
