Ranking the Top 24 on American Idol

4

Voting for American Idol begins Sunday and Monday nights, according to the show’s website.

And that means it’s time to rank the Top 24, a difficult endeavor I’ve undertaken in the photo gallery below.

Since fans can vote both Sunday and Monday, I’m guessing the contestants might be split up into two groups, with eight singers advancing from each.

And while voting starts — via text, via the Idol app and via the Idol website — I’ll be shocked if the judges don’t keep a hand in a few of the decisions via wild card selections.

The Sunday and Monday shows are labeled celebrity duets and solos, which implies that each member of the Top 24 will duet with a celebrity and perform a solo song.

At least I’m hoping that’s how it works. Advancing singers on the strength of duets alone would be shockingly unfair considering the outcome could be heavily affected by the popularity of the duet partner and the contestants’ familiarity with performing duets.

Remember, some members of this Top 24 — like Casey Bishop and Mary Jo Young — made it clear they never performed publicly before American Idol.

Anyway, I’ll have more on what’s coming up on the Sunday and Monday shows later.

It’s time to reveal the first rankings of Season 19.

Via The Idol Pad Sunday will be 7-5 and 6-6 on Monday.

A note about The Idol Pad. It’s a spoiler website.

They allegedly were the site that discovered Benson Boone’s withdrawal.

Also, support your faves after “Idol.”

After 18 seasons and countless robbed finalists and semifinalists, the producers can heavily influence voting.

I’d like to see Bean a little closer to the top, but your top three of Chayce, Alanis and Ava August seem very realistic.🤞🏾🤩
