Raquel Castro from The Voice Season 1

* Raquel Castro, from Season 1, has released “Fire in the Winter,” a collaboration with The Wildcardz. Raquel said she wrote the song pre-pandemic, right after taping an episode of NBC’s “Songland” in which her song was the one picked to be recorded by H.E.R. “I finally felt like things were starting to come together and make sense and then BOOM! COVID-19 hit and all of the ups downs, highs lows, confusion, insecurity, second-guessing blah blah blah came flooding in. I decided to hold off on releasing this.” She feels the time is right now, though, and she’s dropped an accompanying music video, with the help of Sky Rizzo, Andrew Hendrix and Jake Tuohy.

Khalea also wrote the song, adding on social media: “I’m just thankful to be in a position to do what I love. This song is a tribute to all those who came before me. They paved the way & now I’m walking in it.” There’s also a music video, courtesy of Wally Woo.
