* Jamal Corrie, from Season 18, writes that he’s managed to be single or alone on all 28 Valentines in his life. But that didn’t stop him from releasing “Really in Love” on Valentine’s Day. Jamal says he wrote the song during a three-week pandemic-related quarantine in Hong Kong “reflecting on my own love from my past, present and future.” The stripped-down sound was inspired by working with Grammy winner Philip Lawrence in L.A.. He met him after Philip’s wife happened to see Jamal performing in Central Park. He shares all the details of that meeting on Instagram.

* Chris Crump, from Season 5, released “Sweet Surrender” last week. It’s his first single in nearly a year and a half, and Chris admits in an Instagram post that he hasn’t been very good at self-promotion, partly because of second-guessing his ability. “Recently though I heard that vulnerability is a big part of bravery, and I want to be brave,” Chris writes. “So I’ve been recording some new stuff with my dear friends that I’m gonna try and make you aware of. I hope you like it and, if not, that’s ok too. I think I’ve kept my head down long enough.”

* Using his KIllWill pseudonym, Will Chaplin, a finalist from Season 5, weighs in on the trucker protests with a new collaboration called “Keep on Truckin’.” Bryson Gray is his collaborator in this case. “Spread it like wildfire,” writes Will. “Worked overtime to crank this one out because of the timely subject matter.”
