After American Idol

Scotty McCreery soars to #1 with new album

Scotty McCreery has released his new album, Seasons ChangeA couple of years ago, it looked like former American Idol champ Scotty McCreery might be relegated to country music oblivion.

His 2015 country-pop single “Southern Belle” had failed to do much on the music charts. His record deal with Mercury Nashville ended.

My, how things can changed in a couple of years.

“Five More Minutes,” a song Scotty co-wrote about the death of his grandfather, slowly marched its way up the charts, reaching number one on Billboard’s country charts earlier this year.

It marked Scotty’s first Top 10 hit since 2014 and his first-ever number one single.

Then, on Friday, Scotty released his third studio album, “Seasons Change.”

It soared to number one on the iTunes country albums chart. Even more impressively, 10 hours after its release, Scotty was sitting atop the iTunes overall albums chart.

And fans are loving the new music from the now 24-year-old. Just check out some of the comments about “Seasons Change” on Facebook.

Meredith Kay Mosby: “Listening to now! Absolutely loving it. Your voice is amazing and your songs have such great meaning in them!”

Lisa Simon: “Love the new CD “Seasons Change.” Every song could be a hit #1 single in my opinion! Great job, Scotty. I am a fan forever.”

Sue Berres: “Incredible album. So personal. Well done Scotty.”

Scotty is touring in support of his new music. A show tonight (March 16) in Warrendale, Pa., is sold out. On Saturday, he’ll be performing at the Santander Performing Arts Center in Reading, Pa. You can check out other upcoming tour dates on Scotty’s website.
