Wow, did you catch all those rules on The Voice?
You can vote up to 10 times by five means — calling, texting, voting on Facebook, voting on The Voice site or downloading the artist’s performances.
You can vote up until 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The top three vote-getters from each team advance.
Then the judges get to save one of the three remaining team members, meaning four contestants will be eliminated during the Tuesday night results show.
Now that all that’s straight, let’s get down to the recap.
Team Blake
Pick Three: The first choice is easy. I thought Charlotte Sometimes turned in the best performance of the night. She pulled me in with the tone of her voice and showed more range with her rendition of “Misery Business” than anyone who performed Monday. I was a little surprised by the song choices for Jermaine Paul and Erin Willett, but both won me over with excellent vocals.
Save One: I’m even more baffled by the decision to have Naia Kete, a reggae artist, sing Adele, but not in a reggae fashion. Blake said the goal was to show Naia’s capable of more than just reggae. But at this stage of the competition, the contestants should be doing what they do best, not trying to wow us with versatility. Anyway, she’s deserving of another chance.
Team Christina:
Pick Three: Everyone raved about Jesse Campbell at the end of Monday’s show, and he’s deserving of one of the three spots. But was that vocal any more special than the one Chris Mann turned in earlier in the evening? I didn’t think so. In fact, I graded Chris’ performance as the better of the two. The third spot should go to Lindsey Pavao, who looked lovely Monday yet somehow fit right into that bizarre staging of “Somebody That I Used to Know.” On a night when some of the performances seemed a little dated and boring by The Voice standards, that was one performance that kept my attention from start to finish.
Save One: In my opinion, this is a no-brainer. I mean, Ashley De La Rosa strutted and stomped around The Voice stage like a veteran rocker rather than the 17-year-old near novice that she is. Toss in a very fine vocal, and she’s definitely deserving of one of the four spots in the next round.
