Fans selected Maelyn Jarmon, Gyth Rigdon and Dexter Roberts as finalists on The Voice based on overnight voting.

Now it’s time for Shawn Sounds, Andrew Sevener and Rod Stokes to compete for an instant save and the final spot in those finals.

If Andrew wins, Team Blake would have three singers competing in next week’s finals.

That meant the elimination of Carter Lloyd Horne and Kim Cherry.

Andrew Sevener (Team Blake), “Simple Man” — Andrew is one of the contestants done a disservice by the shortened finals. He’s come a long way in a short time and I think he would have had more of a chance to grow on fans with more appearances. This was a smart song choice, and he’s going it very, very well. Love the passion he pours into every performance. He just made a convincing case for belonging in the finals. Grade: B+

Rod Stokes (Team Kelly), “Brother” — Like the fact that the artists picked their songs. Not liking this vocal as much as Andrew’s, and he doesn’t seem quite as connected to this as he did to his solo last night. Like the a cappella section of the song too. Won’t be mad is he squeaks into the finals. That was pretty solid. Grade: B

Shawn Sounds (Team Legend), That’s What I Like” — Oh, no, Shawn. What was called for here was a heartfelt ballad, not a pop song. This is easily the weakest he’s sounded vocally. You needed an emotional connection with fans to pull this out. I’ll be surprised if he gets the save after this vocal and song pick. Grade: C+

And as the results come in, The Voice results are showing a 10 percent edge for Andrew Sevener, with Rod Stokes second and Shawn Sounds third.

Advancing to the finals is Andrew Sevener.

And Team Blake has three singers in next week’s finale.

Woo-hoo!

Pretty sure that’s not how producers envisioned this season working out.
