Valerie Ponzio from Season 12 has released a new song “Desert Rain” as part of a new EP, “Frontera.” “Growing up in west Texas, you almost take for granted the unique sensation that comes over you when you experience a desert rain,” she said. “I’ve always wanted to capture that in a song.” The accompanying music video, which premiered Friday on CMT.com and stars Valerie, equates that desert rain to an illicit affair. As for the EP, it includes two other recently released singles from Valerie — “Not Just a Bordertown” and “Orale” — and a country cover of Selena’s “I Could Fall in Love.”

It’s the first single in more than two years for Jozy, who took time out to reflect on her Voice experience as Season 22 began. “When I look back, it all seems like a vividly wild dream but I am SO thankful it was real. From standing in line waiting to audition to getting call backs, to living in hotels for months to our crew. A true, challenging, inspiring, life-changing time. Reminder: Go after your crazy dreams. Sometimes they are closer to being attainable than you think.”
