Her audition: Joslynn Rose, 16, of Lake Benton, Minn., performed “Arcade” by Duncan Laurence: She showed off a nice tone at the opening. She also went big on the chorus and, by the time the song ended, she had Gwen Stefani, Niall Horan and Reba McEntire facing her way. Gwen loved the emotion in her performance. Niall liked the way she connected with the audience. Joclynn decided to join Team Gwen.

* She has eight sisters, which means she’s from a family of 11 in a town with a population of about 700.

* Her family also fosters children and had three living with them at the time Joslynn auditioned.

* Joslynn told The Independent, her hometown newspaper, that she began singing at 8 and realized she wanted to pursue music when one of the foster siblings had to leave her family.

* “I remember sitting at the piano, singing all the things I felt in that moment,” she told the newspaper. “It turned into, honestly, a prayer … In that moment, I knew that’s what I wanted to do for people.”

* Joslynn’s heavily involved in music through her church as well, she told Marshall Radio in a recent interview. She leads two worship teams at that church. “I absolutely love it. That’s a big part of music for me.”

* And since age 12, she’s been performing as an assistant to illusionist Max Fleet, bringing out props, helping with choreography and becoming part of his show. She’s also been singing as an opening act at recent performances.

* Joslynn says working with Max Fleet has helped her with her stage presence because music is such an integral part of his shows.

* As for The Voice, Joslynn says she’s always enjoyed watching the show and she and her cousins used to put on pretend Voice shows at family gatherings.

* She told Marshall Radio that she sent in audition tapes to the show when she was 13 and 14 and was turned down both times.

* This past year, the show reached out to her, asked for more audition tapes, then invited her to the auditions.

* As for choosing Gwen as her coach, Joslynn said there were several reasons, not the least of which is that Gwen started her musical journey at a young age. Also, “she’s so fun and energetic, and she’s not afraid to be herself.”
