No Phil Collins nonsense this time around.

Contestants got to pick their songs when singing for the Twitter save on The Voice Tuesday night.

And that meant Adam Cunningham picked a song far more in his wheelhouse than “Against All Odds,” the song coach Adam Levine selected for him on Top 12 night.

Adam found himself in the bottom two alongside Team Adam Levine colleague Jon Mero at the end of Tuesday’s show.

Here’s how I scored the performances.

Adam Cunningham will sing “Fortunate Son.” Do you think Adam might be attacking this as though he has something to prove. This is so, so much better than what we heard last night. Really nice performance by Adam. Wow. Grade: B+

Jon Mero: He’ll sing “I Want You Back.” He’s decided to go back to his upbeat dance persona for this performance. He’s a great showman. But this vocal can’t match what Adam just did with his song. I’m surprised, actually, this performance includes so much dancing and so little singing. Grade: C+

As the Twitter save results came in, Adam was ahead from the very beginning, winding up with an edge of about 55 percent to 45 percent.

He wound up advancing to next week’s Top 11 show. Jon headed home.
