Adam Levine paired up two of his more experienced singers in the battle round on The Voice.
Jimmy Mowery, 31, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., auditioned with “Attention” by Charlie Puth and earned a pair of chair turns.
Kalvin Jarvis, 29, of Tucson, Ariz., auditioned with “A Good Night” by John Legend and also enticed two coaches to turn.
Both singers have already released original music. Learn more about that music and them by following the links above.
The song: “U Got It Bad” by Usher
The feedback: Blake Shelton said they did a great job; John Legend agreed. Kelly Clarkson said she would have given a slight edge to Kalvin. Adam says he was thrilled with their performance.
The outcome: Adam advanced Kalvin, saying he was just a bit more consistent. But John Legend swooped in and stole Jimmy, meaning both singers advance.
My take: The Voice liked this performance so much, it was leaked and now has nearly 600,000 views. Kalvin really impressed me with his rich tone. But Jimmy nailed a couple of really impressive notes when it was his turn to solo. I, too, would have given a slight edge to Kalvin. But it’s nice to see both advance after a performance that strong.
