“Going from a small little bar stool in the corner (of the restaurant) to this big stage — it is so crazy,” she said prior to her Voice Season 17 audition.
Well, not so crazy after all.
Because Gracee, just 16 when she auditioned, wound up making it all the way to the Top 20 and The Voice live playoffs.
First, she landed one of the final two slots on the show and a spot on Team Kelly Clarkson. And when she was on the verge of elimination in the knockout round, Blake Shelton stole her to complete his team for the live playoffs.
And even though she was eliminated in those playoffs, Blake predicted we’re be hearing more from Gracee in the future.
Here’s what Gracee told Voice Views about her time on the show and her future in music.
Voice Views: What do you consider your biggest takeaway / lesson learned from The Voice experience?
Gracee: I learned that after going through this experience I want to be in the music industry even more than I did before (which is crazy because this has always been my dream). I also learned that it is best to stick to your true self and be who you are, because that will get you far.
Voice Views: Which was your favorite Voice performance and why?
Gracee: Definitely my “Leave the Pieces” knockout performance. I got to share the stage with my best friend on the show and that song was truly in my wheelhouse. I also played my guitar which is my favorite thing to do!
Voice Views: What are you post-Voice plans musically? Where are you hoping this opportunity leads?
Gracee: I have plans to release new music, and continue pursuing my musical career. I hope that this is a jump start to a long future in country music!
Voice Views: Do you plan to release new music anytime soon? If so, can you tell me about that — what you’re planning, what fans can expert in terms of sound and the timetable for doing?
Gracee: I do plan on releasing music, I don’t know exactly when yet. I love songwriting and performing and will be advertising my shows as they are planned. I can’t wait for the world to get to hear my true sound and get to know a little more about me from my songwriting!
Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?
Gracee: I enjoyed every second of this journey, and made amazing friends as well. I am so thankful for the support, this is only the beginning!
