When Hannah Goebel dropped out of The Voice Season 14, Alexa Cappelli got a free pass into the knockout round.

But the teen from Upland, Calif., said she was still disappointed to lose her battle round partner.

Alexa and Hannah were scheduled to perform Sam Smith’s “Pray” in front of The Voice coaches.

They had rehearsed the song together. They had recorded the iTunes version of their cover together.

But Alexa said she found out just before the performance that Hannah wouldn’t be participating.

Officially, Hannah left the show “for personal reasons.” Four days after the episode aired — the battles were filmed in late January — Hannah hasn’t provided a more detailed explanation, though she did take to Facebook to assure everyone that she is fine and that “I still have my voice.”

“I was a little upset to be honest because I was looking forward to performing with her,” Alexa said this week during a conference call with the media. “We were ready. It was just a good song. We worked together on it. Kelly knew what she was doing when she put us together.

“It was a little awkward to be by myself for a battle round. But I took the opportunity to sing my heart out still.

“I’m glad the song is on iTunes,” Alexa added. “It came out really well.”

Hannah would have been the battle round favorite had she performed. She turned four chairs in the blind audition. Alexa, 18 when she auditioned, turned two with a cover of “I’ve Got the Music in Me.

Alexa now advances to the knockout round, which begins airing Monday on NBC. Artists who advance from that round make the live playoffs and have a shot at the Season 14 finals.
