Anaya Cheyenne, one of the youngest contestants on The Voice, was eliminated in a knockout round match that aired Monday night.

Unfortunately, her Team Kelly knockout with Mandi Thomas was montaged, meaning viewers saw just a very short clip of it and none of Anaya’s portion of the knockout.

Anaya sang Kesha’s “Praying.” And for her fans who felt as though they missed out, the teen posted a video of her “Praying” cover to Instagram.

Anaya was 16 when she auditioned and turned two chairs with her performance of “I’ll Never Love Again” by Lady Gaga. She then advanced to the knockouts with a battle round victory over Chelle.

Anaya is from Connecticut, but had been training as her godmother’s performing arts school in the Atlanta area prior to the show.

Here’s what she told Voice Views about her experience on The Voice.

Voice Views: We didn’t get to see much of your knockout round match. Can you tell us what viewers missed? What type of feedback you got?

Anaya: For my knockout, I sang praying by Kesha. It’s so cool I had a chance to share such a powerful song with the coaches and the audience. I had moments pulling the attention from everyone, and I had moments that I know I could have done better on. The coaches gave lots of feed back, but what they mostly wanted me to know is to take my time, and that my uniqueness is the best thing I can ever bring to the table.

Voice Views: What do you consider your biggest takeaway / lesson learned from The Voice experience?

Anaya: What I took from this experience, I can talk about all day haha! But to describe it in two words I’d say humbling, and fun. I was surrounded by artists who love to do the same thing as me, but in different ways.

I met people and I gained friendships out this. I realized that the biggest key of them all is to have fun, because when you lose the fun in what you love, you’re not doing your job.

Voice Views: What are your post-Voice plans musically? Where are you hoping this opportunity leads?

Anaya: To keep working/training, to record new music, make more content, and hopefully more opportunities come through from this!

Voice Views: Do you have plans to release new music? If so, what can you tell us about that?

Anaya: Of course 🙂 just know that it’ll be a tune you can’t stop listening to.

Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?

Anaya: I’m grateful for the opportunity, and I’m happy I got to meet the people who work behind the scenes they are amazing. Also, teamwork is very important in this industry, and they showed me that.
