NBC is moving The Voice results shows from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays.

The move comes a week after The Voice scored its lowest rating ever, a 1.0 among 18-49 year olds, with just north of 7 million total viewers for its first-ever Cross Battles results show.

The switch will run through the end of Season 16. The Voice is swapping time slots with “The Village.”

In announcing the change, NBC notes that HUT (Home Using Television) levels are down for the 8 p.m. hour now that spring has arrived and viewers are more likely to watch “The Village” on a delayed basis than The Voice.

Of course, it might help if The Voice presented a show worth watching.

I’ve said it before, and I say it again: Producers have ruined Season 16.

When viewers tune in for Monday’s second night of cross battles, it will mark the ninth week of The Voice season.

And we’ll be watching the 16 singers who perform that night sing for just the third time.

The Season 16 cast is, by all indications, a talented bunch. But how exited can a viewer get over who’s saved and who’s stolen when we barely know those singers?

And that’s pretty much all last week’s cross battle result show offered. We got a show-opening performance by John Legend followed by 55 minutes of drawn out results filled with those mind-numbing coaches’ commentaries and an occasional save or steal.

I’ve been watching singing shows since Idol premiered. The only more boring episode I can remember came on Season 11 of American Idol when then producer Nigel Lythgoe decided it might be fun to air an hour-long Hollywood Week episode without a single musical performance.

It wasn’t. Fun that is.

Nor is what’s going to happen on The Voice for the remainder of Season 16.

We will get to know the singers, with the help of the live playoffs (April 29) and a Top 13 show (May 6).

But by the time we do, Season 16 will be over with finals that last just three weeks.

One can only hope Season 17 will be better.
