Will The Voice Season 16 boil down to a country showdown between Dexter Roberts and Gyth Rigdon of Team Blake Shelton?

Could Presley Tennant, Team Kelly Clarkson’s young pop singer, a one-chair steal in the blind auditions, make a run for the Season 16 crown?

Or how about Jej Vinson, who has already performed in front of Taylor Swift and a president and who turned four chairs with his blind audition?

All four are among the front-runners for The Voice on social media heading into Monday’s live playoffs and a week when The Voice field will be whittled from a Top 24 to a Top 13.

And with Season 16 shortened to just three weeks of finals, pre-show fan bases will be more important than ever in determining who comes out on top.

It’s important to note that most of the singers on top in the lists below came to The Voice with strong social media followings.

It’s also pretty clear from the numbers that, if you’re a young singer looking to build a social media fan base, The Voice is not the place to be. Just compare the numbers below to social media numbers for the Top 8 on American Idol.

The fault isn’t the singers, it’s the format.

Come Monday, fans will have heard the Top 8 on American Idol sing 13 times. The Voice will be presenting just the fourth performance from the Top 24 below. Fans simply haven’t gotten a chance to know The Voice cast as well.
