Now that The Voice is over, it’s time for me to catch up on some of the new music news I’ve missed.

And I’m thrilled to say one of my favorite songs of 2017 from one of my favorite albums of 2017 now has a matching music video.

Dia Frampton, runner-up from Season 1 of The Voice, released the video for “Dead Man” last week.

And talk about a video that captures the emotion of the song. This one sure accomplishes that.

Andrew Ahn directed the video. In a Facebook post, Dia says she’s been a “super fan” of his for some time and adds that “it was a dream to be able to work with him and his talented crew.”

As for the song …

“It’s hard, years later, to remember that pain coming out of a relationship. That emptiness where you can’t eat, can’t sleep. You don’t want to go outside. You don’t want to meet new people. ‘Dead Man’ is about the very end of something that felt like your entire world, and where to go from there.”

The song comes from Dia’s superb “Bruises” album. So superb, I still find it hard to believe she wasn’t invited back to perform on The Voice this season.

Hey, but it you want to see her live, Dia’s coming east for a series of shows in July. And, for a special treat, she’ll be joined by Castro. That’s right, former Idol standout Jason Castro’s family band.

They’ll be performing Friday, July 7, at Jammin’ Java in the D.C. suburbs, then doing a show in Philly at World Cafe Live on Sunday, July 9.

You can check out other dates on Dia’s Facebook page or website.

Here’s “Dead Man.” And, if you haven’t, please check out her album “Bruises.”
