Drew Cole has released his first single since appearing on Season 14 of The Voice.

Drew Cole, a Top 24 contestant on Season 14 of The Voice, recently released his first single since.

It’s a soulful tune called “Sour Love.” And released Nov. 19, it’s already attracted more than 200,000 streams on Spotify.

“Since The Voice, I’ve really been working on songwriting,” Drew told Voice Views. “I felt the pressure to put out a song that is great, one that I fully believe in — ‘Sour Love’ is just that. It represents who I am as an artist in this very moment.”

Drew co-wrote the song with Jean Castel, Jaidan Millar and Matt Lara, buddies at East West Studios in Hollywood. It was produced by Brennan Loney, who worked with Drew on his previous single, “Kings and Queens.” It was released last year, before Drew’s time on The Voice.

“Sour Love” is about “a guy who notices a stunningly beautiful woman in a cafe or bar,” Drew explains. “She’s alone in the corner reading a book. The room disappears around her.

“Rather than going up to her, he keeps his distance. He doesn’t want to ruin the moment as it’s occurring before him. As badly as he truly wants to meet her, he never approaches. He feels unworthy of her beauty,” Drew adds, saying he’s experienced just that feeling.

“‘Sour Love’ describes this feeling of lost love. Yet, at the same time, he can accept it. The bitterness doesn’t overtake him because he has a strong respect for beauty and has control of his desires.”

Drew also released a live EP back in September, featuring “Sour Love,” four previously released singles and his Voice blind audition song, “Sex and Candy.”

And he says he’s planning to release more original music in 2019. He also just returned from a tour of Germany and Switzerland.
