Former The Voice contestant Sam James showed up on the first episode of “Songland” Tuesday night.

And while James was the first songwriter eliminated in John Legend’s search for his next hit, everyone complimented the Nashville-based songwriter on his offering, “Shine Down.”

And James, 32, thanked “Songland” for the opportunity on social media.

“Thank you @nbcsongland … tonight was a ton of fun,” he wrote on Facebook. “I am a very, very, very lucky guy.”

He also asked fans whether they think he should record a demo of “Shine Down.” Lots responded in the affirmative.

Whether they realize it or not, Voice fans have heard Sam’s work in the past. He co-wrote “Old Soul,” the finalist’s single Spensha Baker released in Season 14.

And if you want to do yourself a favor, check out Sam’s 2016 EP “It Never Happens.” The EP made my list of that year’s five best post-Voice albums or EPs because it features five songs and every one sounds like a hit.

Sam, 32, from Worcester, Mass., also says he “has lots of great things to share with you all soon” and thanked fans for supporting him and “for never giving up on my dream even when sometimes I felt like giving up on it myself.”

Sam earned a spot on Season 3 of The Voice and made it to the knockout round in Season 3. That was the season the show had 64 contestants instead of the traditional 48.

Here’s Sam original song, “Shine Down.”
