Gabby Barrett has released her second music video in the week since finishing third on American Idol.

American Idol hasn’t had many contestants as ready or as eager to kickstart their career as Gabby Barrett.

Last Monday, the 18-year-old country singer from the Pittsburgh area finished third on the show.

A week later, she’s already released music videos for two original songs and is preparing to head to Nashville.

Gabby released a music video for “Young Blood” late last week. Sunday, she followed up with a music video for the sassy “Jesus and My Mama.” Both songs are also available on iTunes.

I know Gabby’s often compared to Carrie Underwood. But she reminds me of a young Miranda Lambert. Just watch the video below.

And I certainly hope they allow Gabby to sing some of her original music on the Idol tour. She’s far to good to be serving up a nightly diet of “The Climb” and “I Hope You Dance.”

Gabby says she’ll be doing one more concert in the Pittsburgh area before heading to Nashville. That’s Thursday night at the Tequila Cowboy Bar and Grill.

She and American Idol Season 2 contestant Josh Gracin will perform at Froggy 94.9’s “Concert for a Cause.” Tickets are $25.

The cause in this case is a foundation called It’s About the Warrior, whose mission is to assist and empower post 9/11 veterans and their families from the Tri-State Area with financial grants, home improvement, therapeutic, and outreach programs.
