American Idol returns for Season 18 on Sunday, Feb. 16.

Among the singers who announced they auditioned is Amelia Joyce.

Here’s more about Amelia.

* She was born and raised in southern Michigan in a musical family, according to her website bio, which refers to her as a third-generation musician.

* And she started young, performing in front of a crowd for the first time at age 3 and beginning piano lessons at age 7. She also taught herself guitar.

* In her Facebook bio, Amelia writes “I left everything I called home at 19 and embarked on a journey of finding home everywhere I go.”

* She landed in Phoenix, Ariz., in 2016 and began performing as a solo act in resorts and private clubs around the area.

* In 2017, she won first place in the solo artist category in Alice Cooper’s Proof is in the Pudding Musical Talent Search with a performance you can watch here.

* That earned her the opportunity to open for Cooper, Ace Frehley of Kiss, Slash and others at the annual Alice Cooper Christmas Pudding Fundraiser, held for the past 18 years in Phoenix.

* In November, Amelia released her debut EP, “Songs from My Bedroom,” a collection of four songs she had written years earlier that she said “is nostalgic, pure, and closer to my folk roots than anything I could ever write again.” She also called it “a little sound capsule of my little soul over the years.”

* She’s in a relationship with fellow musician The Proudest Monkey, who released a new single called “The Playlist” in September. Amelia has a featured vocal on it; in fact, that’s the release she promotes on her Instagram page.

* She credits Season 17 standout Wade Cota for talking her into auditioning for American Idol and thanks him for doing so in a Facebook post.

* Writes Amelia on Facebook, where she’s mentioned her Idol audition on a number of occasions: “Follow your passion, pursue your gifts, work towards the visions that were planted in your heart. They are there for a reason, and it’s your choice to lean in or not.”
