E.J. Michels is one of the artists to announce they auditioned for Season 23 of The Voice.

The Voice returns to NBC on Monday, March 6.

Here’s more on E.J.

* He’s a Utah-based artist who has released music both as a solo artists and with the Salt Lake-based band Foreign Figures.

* Foreign Figures is an alt pop / rock band, according to its Spotify bio. The band has five songs that have been streamed more than a million times on the site with its two most popular — “The Fever” and “Cold War” coming from its 2018 “Overzealous” album.

* E.J. has an impressive record as a solo artist as well. His song “Dark Room,” released in conjunction with the band, has more than 660,000 streams on Spotify. Another, “I’m Not a Rockstar,” has been streamed more than 325,000 times.

* His most recent single, “Jupiter,” dropped in September and is billed as the lead single off his upcoming debut album.

* Says E.J. of the song: “I started this song back in 2015, and left it in the works until revisiting during the writing process of the album. I really wanted a song that expressed unconditional love for the messiest parts of being human.” Check out “Jupiter” below.

* Along with Foreign Figures, E.J. has shard the stage with X Ambassadors, Lukas Graham, Kesha, and American Authors, according to a press release for a 2020 single called “The Ugliest.”

* That song is based on E.J.’s first romance and heartbreak as an openly gay man, according to the release.

* E.J. announced his appearance on The Voice on Feb. 19, writing: “After being inspired by @DavidArchie on @AmericanIdol back in high school and becoming obsessed with singing I finally took the plunge and auditioned for @NBCTheVoice!”
