Faith Becnel, from the New Orleans area, auditioned for American Idol Season 18

And Faith Becnel is among the talented singers who have announced that they auditioned.

Here’s more about Faith.

* Faith says she started singing on stage when she was 10 at a school talent show. “It’s just always been a passion of mine,” she said in a 2018 interview with a local TV station. She was 19 at the time.

* Just two years later, at age 12, she recorded her first CD, called “I Believe.” It’s her only release to date. She also started singing with a group called The Rowdy Rough Boys (& A Girl).

* At age 13, she formed her first band, Faith in the Music, and started performing around southern Louisiana.

* She also auditioned for America’s Got Talent that year, making it to the Top 70 out of 1,500 acts, according to a story posted here.

* In that interview, Faith describes her music this way: “Being raised in New Orleans, you’re used to hearing that soulful type music. That’s what I love to listen to, and that’s what influences me.”

* And you might say her band’s taken off. She now fronts a group called Faith Becnel and the Music Krewe that includes up to five professional Louisiana musicians and has a busy schedule of public and private events.

* On her website, Faith boasts of a broad set list that includes Aretha Franklin, Amy Winehouse, Stevie Wonder, The Beatles, Van Morrison, Meghan Trainor, Bruno Mars and many more.

* She traveled all the way to Oregon for her Idol audition and is inviting family and friends to an Idol watch party on Feb. 16 at Tables & Taps in Metairie, La.
