Halley Greg is among the artists to announce they auditioned for Season 20 of The Voice.

Here’s more about Halley.

* She’s a Seattle-based singer-songwriter who released her debut album, “American Harlot,” in September.

* “American Harlot” features 10 songs, including the title track, which was released as Halley’s debut single in January 2020. You can check out “American Harlot,” the song, below.

* The album was funded in part by a successful Kickstarter campaign launched that same month.

* In the Kickstarter Halley describes her music as “empowering, sassy, sweet, punch-you-in-the-gut indie pop rock.” On Facebook, she says it’s been described as the “love child of Katy Perry and Joan Jett.”

* She also says she started writing songs just a year earlier. “It was a spontaneous spark within me that then turned into a delicate flame, and with time and encouragement, that delicate flame turned into a roaring fire. ”

* As for Halley Greg, it’s a pseudonym, adopted “so I can write sassy/suggestive music and not get fired from my day job of teaching high school science.” In fact, one of her Kickstarter rewards was three hours worth of science tutoring sessions.

* In her Kickstarter launch video, Halley says she suffered from “crippling stage fright” before she began singing background harmonies for a fellow Seattle musician.

* If you want to know more about the songs on her debut album, she provides a brief synopsis here, adding: “Some people have children by the age of 29. I birthed this instead, I guess.”

Editor’s note: Season 20 of The Voice is scheduled to kick off Monday, March 1 on NBC.
