His audition: Ian Harrison, 20, of Columbus, Ohio, auditioned with “The Night We Met” by Lord Heron. A heartfelt performance prompted chair turns from Blake Shelton, John Legend and Gwen Stefani. Ian opted to join Team Gwen.

Here’s more about Ian:

* Growing up, Ian was close to his dad. But his father took his own life when Ian was 9.

* Ian said that’s one reason he chose his audition song, because it’s about “feeling someone growing apart from you, feeling that connection going away.”

* For Ian, music started when he picked up his dad’s guitar and taught himself to play. His dad wasn’t a musician, but someone who loved music, Ian said. That spurred his son’s interest as well.

* Ian participated in middle school choir, sang in church and landed the lead in a musical at his high school, according to his Voice bio.

* But Ian said auditioning for The Voice “is by far my biggest accomplishment. My other musical performances include a high school play, and a couple of weddings.”

* Ian said he submitted an audition tape to the show a couple of years ago and “they passed. This season, however, they reached out based on this initial video and asked me to come to the callbacks. The story goes on from there!”

* As for his decision to chose Gwen as his coach, Ian said “I joined Team Gwen because of how she talked about my artistry and the way she related to me. She was adamant about wanting to help me and it really spoke to me.”

* Ian says he considers himself an alternative indie artist. “I have original music that I hope I am able to release soon,” he told Voice Views. “I would definitely put it in the alternative genre, somewhere between indie rock and folk. However, I would like to switch it up a bit before releasing.”
