KJ Jennings from the Voice Season 21

KJ Jennings is among the singers to announce they auditioned for Season 21 of The Voice.

The Voice returns to NBC on Monday, Sept. 20. Here’s more about KJ.

* She’s Kalie Jennings, 22, from Austin, Texas, and a jazz performance student at the Berklee College of Music.

* Her Berklee bio describes her as a new-soul and contemporary jazz artist; she’s set to graduate in 2022.

* While she doesn’t appear to have released music yet, that bio indicates she’s been working on a debut album in L.A., where she moved in 2020.

* During the pandemic, she was featured in a couple of Berklee’s “Berkless Anywhere” virtual concerts. You can check out her holiday performance here.

* Berklee also put together a Singers Showcase of James Bond theme songs as “No Time to Die” was about to be released. KJ was one of two featured artists on the opening number, “No Time to Die.” Check out her impressive performance below.

* On Instagram, KJ writes that she grew up on classic rock courtesy of her best friend — her dad.

* She took part in musical theater in grades 5 to 12 and started pursuing jazz music when she was 14.

* KJ writes that her taste in music ranges from The Eagles, her favorite band, to Astrud Gilberto, a Brazilian singer who was inducted into the International Latin Music Hall of Fame in 2002.

* She adds that her biggest musical influences include Chet Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, Freddie Mercury, Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, Moonchild and Stevie Wonder.
