Skylar Mayton, a contestant on The Voice Season 19.

Her audition: TSkylar Mayton, 15, of Grand Rapids, Mich., auditioned with “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd. She’d barely started singing when Kelly turned. Kelly called her performance “awesome” and said she’s “so stoked” to discover Skylar is so gifted at such a young age. Because Kelly was the only coach to turn, Skylar automatically became a member of Team Kelly.

Here’s more about Skylar.

* She’s just 15, according to her YouTube bio, and attends Forest Hills Northern High School outside Grand Rapids, Mich.

* That said, she’s accomplished a good deal already, including releasing a four-track country EP called “Sky’s the Limit” as Skylar Alyvia Mayton in early 2019.

* She has a couple of newer originals you can check out on her YouTube channel, including “Let’s Make Plans” and “Cut You Off.” She wrote the former with her sister.

* On Dec. 1, she’ll be releasing three new songs that she recorded in Nashville.

* In November 2019, she joined the teen band Five Strand Fushion, formed by David Palmer, founder of Walk the Beat and Spread the Music.

* She was selected as the group’s new lead singer following an American Idol style audition that featured a dozen singers, according to a story in The Holland Sentinel.

* In that article, Skylar says she’s been singing as long as she can remember, starting playing piano at age 6 and guitar around age 11.

* She performed for the Chicago Bulls five times, singing the national anthem and winning the kids talent show at age 13.

* Skylar has also done some acting and modeling, appearing in three regional commercials.

* She made her film debut with a minor role in 2018’s “Bennett’s Song,” a movie starring Tara Reid and Dennis Haskins. She’ll also appear in the followup film, “A Bennet Song Holiday,” when it’s released.
