Tobias Hill from American Idol Season 20

American Idol returns to ABC on Sunday, Feb. 27. Here’s more about Tobias.

* He’s an R&B artist from Como, N.C., who uses the stage name Prince Tch and describes himself as “humble but hungry.”

* He’s already released music in the form of a five-song EP called “Love and Hate” that dropped in 2019. Check out “She” from that project below.

* Tobias also enjoyed a career highlight in 2019 when one of his mentors, singer-songwriter Tank, called on him to sing for fans at one of his concerts.

* “I was shocked, nervous, excited, hype, and terrified all at the same time. But I just had to remember that this is what I’ve been praying for my whole life,” Tobias wrote of the experience.

* Since then, Tobias has been steadily building a fan base of his own. He has 20,000 followers on his Prince T.C.H. Instagram page.

* In his web bio, Tobias says he grew up in a musical household and credits his parents and grandparents for teaching him the basic principles of music.

* He now plays piano, drums and guitar, with 10 years of experience as a church music and three years as a middle and high school chorus teacher.

* Tobias received a bachelor’s of music degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical School and a master’s degree in digital marketing and advertising from Liberty University.

* That web bio says his specialties are 1990s R&B music, gospel and smooth jazz and his goal is to uplift people through music.

* In addition to Tank, he says his musical inspirations include Stevie Wonder, Brian McKnight and P.J. Morgan.
