The Voice viewers and coaches will pick a Top 13 tonight.

The top eight vote-getters from last night’s show will advance, regardless of team.

Then each coach will save one artist as the show prepares for its quickest finals — just three weeks — in show history.

I think that’s foolish, ludicrous … well, pick your term as long as it’s derogatory.

It’s also a disservice to the singers and to Voice fans.

But it’s the way Carson and company have decided to play Season 16, so all we can do is sit back and enjoy the music.

The first three artists advancing on The Voice …

Gyth Rigdon (Team Blake) — he was the top finisher on iTunes

Shawn Sounds (Team Legend_ — he turned in a fine performance last night

Carter Lloyd Horne (Team Blake) — guess Heartbreak Hotel was a great song pick

Rod Stokes (Team Kelly) — That one is a bit of a surprise for me. He had to perform first last night.

Kim Cherry (Team Blake) — The Waterfalls gamble, rap and all, paid off.

Dexter Roberts (Team Blake) — That was obviously going to happen

Maelyn Jarmon (Team Legend) — She needed to advance, and was 2nd on iTunes.

Andrew Sevener (Team Blake) — That’s five members of Team Blake who advanced.

Instant Save Song by Song Grades:

Kanard Thomas, “Call Out My Name” — Slow start by Kanard, but he found his groove once he hit the chorus. He’s displayed a really nice tone during his Comeback Stage performances. He wuond up turning in a decent performance. Grade: C+

L.B. Crew, “Electric Feel” — This is a better song choice. And L.B. is using it to his advantage, showing off that big voice of his. He’s also looking a bit more natural on stage than Kanard. Grade: B

L.B. Crew wins the instant save, of course. And seeing his former team in trouble, he decides to rejoin Team Adam.

The coaches’ saves:

Team Blake: Blake saves Oliv Blu, and that can’t be based on last night, because Kendra turned in the best performance of the three.

Team Kelly: Kelly faces a tough choice. Jej Vinson and Matthew Johnson were four-chair turns; Presley Tennant has shown tons of potential. Kelly saves Jej.

Team Legend: John selects Celia Babini, and that’s easily the best save decision anyone has made yet. Very sorry, however, to see Lisa Ramey head home.

Team Adam: Not a single Team Adam singer advanced via fan voting. But Adam makes a wise decision and saves Mari, who turned in the best performance on the team Monday night.

The eliminated (just in case you lost track):

Team Adam: Domenic Haynes, Kalvin Jarvis, Betsy Ade

Team Blake: Kendra Checketts, Selkii

Team Kelly: Matthew Johnson, Presley Tennant, Abby Kasch, Rebecca Howell

Team Legend: Jacob Maxwell, Jimmy Mowery, Lisa Ramey
