For the second straight week, The Voice prevailed in the singing show ratings war with American Idol.

In fact, the gap between the shows was greater this week as The Voice launched its battle rounds and American Idol concluded its audition shows.

While The Voice’s rating in the key 18 to 49 age demographic remained even at 2.3 from last Monday to this, American Idol’s rating with younger aduls dropped from 1.8 to 1.6.

The Voice drew 10.67 million viewers Monday night, down from 11.72 the previous week. Idol also shed viewers, down from 8.36 to 7.74.

The Sunday night ratings weren’t particularly kind to American Idol either.

Last week’s premiere recorded a 2.3 rating among 18 to 49 year olds and attracted 10.34 million viewers.

This Sunday’s episode saw the 18-49 rating drop to 1.8 and viewership drop to 7.81 million, meaning the show shed more than 2.5 million viewers — nearly 25 percent — from episode one to episode three.
