Grace Lundy of Lincoln, Neb., auditioned for American Idol Season 18

Grace Lundy is among the artists who have already announced that they auditioned for the show.

Here’s more about Grace.

* She’s a singer-songwriter from Lincoln, Neb., with a hip-hop bent.

* In an interview with the Lincoln Nebraskan last February, then 17-year-old Grace said her interest in music really started in middle school.

* And it started, she said, because she started listening to Ed Sheeran and was impressed by his ability to write songs that strike a chord with listeners.

* In 2017, Grace was selected to attend an Inspire to Dream music camp run by Ashton Combs, who has penned songs for Lil Wayne and Sean Paul. She now refers to him as a mentor.

* As a result of that camp, she also came in contact with a local rapper known as Hakim. She’s since contributed vocals to a number of his tracks. Grace is also featured on a 2019 single called “Wings” by JB. You can check that out below.

* It’s because of the influence of collaborators like Combs and Hakim that Grace said her music has drifted from acoustic more toward a hip-hop sound.

* Grace released her own five-song EP, called “Break My Heart,” in 2018, but it no longer appears to be available on streaming sites.

* Here’s what she told the Nebraskan about her music: “It’s a lot more down-to-earth than it used to be. When I first started writing, it was a bit more cliche and now it’s more of ‘what am I feeling?’ So I kind of try to put more of myself into it. Whatever I’m going through in that day, month, week, whatever, that’s what I’m going to write about.”
